Kamps Transport is a family-run business with deep roots and a forward-looking mindset. What began in 1963 with Mr. and Mrs. Kamps has grown into a modern logistics company with 96 employees, a fleet of 45 trucks, and a brand-new 19,000 m² warehouse in Bleiswijk. “My parents still stop by regularly. We're proud of how far we’ve come, but we remain true to our origins: personal, reliable, and committed,” says Bob Kamps, who now runs the company alongside his sister. That same spirit of personal attention and reliability also defines their partnership with Berkman Forwarding. A trusted link in the supply chain

The collaboration with Kamps Transport began around 2002. Bob recalls, “The managing director at Berkman kept seeing our trucks at a client site in Bleiswijk. That visibility built trust, and eventually led to our first assignment.”
What started with a single container a week quickly evolved into a close, daily partnership.

Today, Kamps transports multiple containers for Berkman every day, and also supports their operations within the warehouse. From regional transport across the Netherlands and the Benelux to unloading and repacking containers, Kamps has become a fixed and dependable link in Berkman’s supply chain. 

Smooth, scalable logistics flow

Over time, the logistics process between the two companies has become tightly synchronized. When a container arrives at the port of Rotterdam—often carrying cargo for multiple clients—it enters under Berkman Forwarding’s name. Kamps takes it from there, handling the unloading at their own facility and distributing goods throughout the Benelux.

“The strength lies in our combination of speed and flexibility,” Bob explains. “We’re quick to act, and our spacious warehouse gives us room to maneuver. That means we can absorb peaks, offer customized solutions, and take on extra work at short notice. It makes us the perfect extension of Berkman’s services.”

Bob is clear: personal contact and mutual engagement are what make the partnership truly effective. “Logistics is all about people. You can have the best systems in place, but it’s the people who make it work. At Berkman, we have consistent contacts. We know each other by name, which means communication is fast and efficient.”

In an increasingly digital world, that human element remains vital. “With many companies, you end up in a call center or talking to someone different each time. Not with Berkman. When you call, you know exactly who you’re speaking to. That builds trust.”

What Kamps appreciates most about Berkman is how they communicate. “They’re straightforward and honest—no beating around the bush. That applies to the day-to-day, but also when something goes wrong. It’s better to be upfront and resolve it quickly, and Berkman is very good at that,” says Bob.

Even when there’s friction, it’s handled openly. “Of course, disagreements happen. That’s part of working together. But they’re always constructive. We keep each other sharp. And that’s the difference between just another supplier and a true partner.”
