TTN B.V.: “Berkman doesn’t do things halfway”

TTN B.V. has been an integral part of Berkman Forwarding’s network for over fifteen years. Led by Adriaan Timmer, along with his father and brother, TTN transports sea containers from the Port of Rotterdam to various destinations throughout Europe. “We handle many containers for Berkman every day. They’re out largest client,” Adriaan proudly explains. 

From chance encounter to long-term collaboration

The partnership evolved naturally. “At the time, my father ran a transportation company already operating in the Port of Rotterdam. Through my uncle, who imported goods from the Far East, we were introduced to Berkman,” Adriaan recounts. “He was already working with them and recommended us. Berkman was immediately receptive, and that’s how it all started.”

From their first interaction, there was an instant connection. “I was nineteen when I first walked into Berkman’s office in Barendrecht. They gave me a chance – I’ll never forget that. We think alike, and that made the partnership enjoyable from day one.”

Smooth logistics every step of the way

A typical container shipment follows a consistent, finely tuned process. “When a container from the Far Easy arrived destined for a client, say, in the northern part of the Netherlands, Berkman informs us about a week in advance. We then schedule the transport and pick up the container as soon as it arrived in Rotterdam.”

Although very little has gone wrong in this process over fifteen years, both parties remain vigilant. “Very occasionally, an advance notification is missed, and we overlook an assignment. But that has maybe happened only a handful of times over all these years. Because our relationship is so personal, we always resolve these rare incidents quickly and smoothly.”

The strength of their collaboration lies in mutual trust and a similar work ethic. “They offer exceptional service and are honest and transparent. They expect the same from us, and that’s exactly what we provide. To their clients, we’re the reliable driver they can always count on.”
