The strikes by lashers in the Port of Rotterdam will not be continued. Trade union FNV and companies ILS and Matrans reached a preliminary agreement on a new collective labour agreement on Thursday evening. While awaiting the final agreement, work will no longer be halted.

Formally, a vote still needs to be held on the outcome of the negotiations, although confidence is high: 85% of employees at Matrans and 70% at ILS support the decision to resume work.

Although new strikes are definitively off the table, a considerable backlog has built up over the past one and a half weeks. It is expected to take at least a few weeks to clear this backlog.
