The Belgian ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge are experiencing severe disruptions due to national strike days taking place from November 24 to 26. Dozens of vessels are waiting for access to the ports, causing delays throughout the logistics chain. These actions follow closely after recent strikes by the Belgian Pilotage Service, which had already led to disturbances in terminal operations.
The strikes in Antwerp stem from protests by Belgian trade unions against the federal government’s policies. The conflict centers on wage and working conditions, as well as broader social measures. As a result of the actions, container handling at several terminals has come to a near standstill, impacting import and export flows to and from Europe.
