Since Wednesday afternoon, October 8, lashers from the companies ILS and Matrans in the Port of Rotterdam have gone on strike. The strike, organized by the FNV trade union, will last until Friday afternoon, October 10 and is the result of a collective labor agreement dispute.
The strike affects container terminals including ECT Delta, APM 2, RWG, and Euromax. Lashers are essential for securing and releasing containers on ships. Their absence has halted loading and unloading activities, leading to delays in the processing of incoming and outgoing containers. This may impact the scheduling and delivery times of shipments.
Disruptions are also occurring in the Port of Antwerp. Since Sunday, the Belgian “Loodswezen” (pilotage services) has been on strike in protest against pension reforms. As a result, the number of waiting ships is increasing, causing delays in terminal operations there as well.
We are closely monitoring the situation and doing everything we can to minimize the impact on your shipments. If you have any questions about an ongoing or planned shipment, please feel free to contact us.
