In 2026, road transport costs will continue to rise. This means that the inland transport of containers from the port to your warehouse will also become more expensive.
The main causes of this are:
- Increasing wage costs: on average about 6% higher due to wage increases and additional personnel expenses;
- Higher costs for trucks and insurance: financing costs are rising by approximately 20%, and insurance premiums by over 7%;
- New truck toll: starting July 1, 2026, an additional tax will be introduced on trucks, aimed at promoting more sustainable transport. In this article, we further explain what the truck toll will entail.
Since carriers typically pass these costs on, transport rates are expected to be noticeably higher in 2026.
