A portal, is it really necessary, or can we no longer do without?

It almost seems like a paradox: a logistics service provider that highly values personal contact is fully committed to a (digital) portal. But that is precisely what Berkman Forwarding is doing. Our customers appreciate the personal touch, but a portal that is up-to-date and offers many options definitely adds value to the information provided.

Whereas in the past, this option was mainly used for tracking a current shipment (track & trace), it is now just a small part of the many possibilities our portal offers. A noteworthy detail: most customers still cite the track & trace option as one of the most frequently used features in the portal. And this comes, of course, not as a surprise, as it is crucial to know when your goods will arrive and whether there are any changes in this process.

But Berkman Forwarding is offering you many more options on the digital highway. Under the name MyBerkman, the former platform underwent a complete transformation at the beginning of 2023. Only the walls remained, after which Berkman started building a portal with the full focus on you, our customer. Hence, valuable feedback from our customers was and remains essential for the further development of this sophisticated and tailor made portal.

We would like to highlight two important aspects that will remain key elements in the near future: system integration and sustainable business practices.

System Integration

If you are shipping a handful of containers per year, managing it without a portal is still feasible. But what if the number rises to 100, 500, or even more than 1,000 containers? In that case, you definitely want to minimize double work, which only leads to higher costs and an increased chance of errors. Berkman Forwarding is happy to assist with the development and implementation of interfaces with the systems you, as our valued customer, use.

Our own Berkman IT team will get in touch with your specialists to ensure the most efficient integration possible, making the information available in no time (or better yet, in real time). Feel free to contact us for a no-obligation consultation; we are more than happy to assist.

Sustainable Business Practices

A few years ago, this was still a term you occasionally encountered, but it has gradually become a mainstream topic, and rightly so. Our planet is fragile, and we must handle it responsibly. Zero CO2 emission is an unrealistic goal, but together we can ensure that the earth remains our beautiful planet for future generations as well.

Berkman is also operating at the forefront on this topic: our portal offers an important tool, providing insight into CO2 emissions per shipment. Moreover, compensating for these emissions, and thus operating as climate-neutral as possible, is a tool already available.

Through certificates (see photo at the bottom of this article), you can show your stakeholders (whether they are employees, customers, or shareholders) that you are taking this issue seriously. Your contribution is then reinvested through our official and internationally recognized partner, Green Earth, in projects around the world to restore and protect the climate.

It is a lot to take in, but it does work! For those interested, please find an overview of ongoing projects: https://www.green.earth/nl/projecten.

Besides, our portal offers many more features, as you can read on our site and via this link: https://berkmanforwarding.com/services/logistical-services.

And of course, we would be happy to explain the benefits of our portal in an online or physical meeting. Naturally, this comes as a free addition to or logistics services, and you are also welcome to contribute ideas to further enhance the usage of our portal.

Another great example of partnership: at Berkman Forwarding, we are happy to do this for you, but even more so, we prefer to do it together with you!
